Mens Watches are a great gift

Mens Watches are a great gift. Always On Time…Luxury Watches For All Occasions

If Lucille Ball's character in the 1940 Rodgers & Hart musical Too Many Girls had been wearing one of today's fine luxury watches from Movado, Citizen or Cartier, she might not have wound up singing the plaintive lyrics "…I – didn't know what time it was…" Those who own such quality designer watches always know what time it is – and such gifts, whether to one's self or to another, are always appropriate, always appreciated, and always useful. Read on and learn more about quality luxury watches.

New…And Yet, Old

Actually, the idea of designer watches is a fairly new one, going back only about 140 years or so. If that seems not-so-new, consider that the first men's watches came into being during the days of King Henry VIII, Martin Luther and Ivan the Terrible – just a little more than a century after the invention of the first spring-driven mechanical clocks around 1400!

These early men's watches were relatively large by modern standards - unwieldy devices that gentlemen wore on a chain around their necks and were neither particularly durable nor accurate. As craftsmen learned to miniaturize the components over the course of the subsequent two centuries however, the pocket watch became a necessary masculine accoutrement, and with the dawn of the Industrial Age, even a required tool of many trades.

For The Ladies

There appears to have been custom-made ladies gold watches as far back as the 1700s, but these were worn by royalty and aristocracy for the most part. The first ladies watches that were worn commonly by women of the middle class were actually the first "wrist watches," known as bracelet watches. These were some of the earliest designer watches available, first manufactured in the U.S. during the late 1860s. (Mens watches designed to be worn on the wrist didn't come along until 1904 when aviation pioneers realized it was necessary to have a timepiece that allowed them to keep both hands on the controls.)

Settle For Nothing Less Than The Best

Movado watches, crafted in Switzerland by a company whose name literally means "ever in motion," set the standard for luxury watches. These extra fine timepieces not only use the latest technology in their construction, but also feature sleek, Art-Deco influenced minimalist design that is unique and immediately identify the wearers as people who appreciate only the best life has to offer. Movado diamond watches come in hundreds of variations and models, making it easy to find a timepiece that is virtually one-of-a-kind. Once you've experienced one of Movado's fine luxury watches, you'll fully appreciate the old expression "runs like a Swiss watch."

Perry Ellis - Magnificent Fashion Designs

by John Debois

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia to a middle-class family, Perry Edwin Ellis is one of the most successful fashion designers in today's modern age. He was born on March 3, 1940 and was raised comfortably by his family with the support of their own fuel company. He studied in Williamsburg, Virginia taking up a degree in Business Administration, which he later used in managing his own fashion business.

Perry Ellis' interest for fashion first came out while he was running his own department store retailing in Virginia. He established that firm to gain experience in the world of fashion simply as a merchandiser and buyer.

In his search for the ultimate experience, he joined the sportswear company owned by John Meyer in New York. The Vera Companies approached him in the 1970s for one purpose – to make designs for the Vera itself. It was only in 1976 when Perry Ellis decided to create his own line of women's sportswear he called the Portfolio.

Since the introduction of the Portfolio, critics and consumers of fashion products praised Perry Ellis as one of the most outstanding designers of sportswear. Particularly the women love him for one reason – Ellis creates his own designs, each boasting a clean cut casual style. He established his own fashion house with the help of The Vera Companies, and named it Perry Ellis International. His showroom was first opened on Seventh Avenue in New York City.

Months after the release of Ellis' casual styled sportswear, he came up with a menswear collection which was introduced successfully in the world market. Critics considered this product line as modern classic in appearance and style. This collection was followed by other successful launches; now featuring shoes, furs, accessories, and fragrances.

Perry Ellis International continued to expand throughout the 1980s. A number of labels were then released, including the Perry Ellis Collection and the Perry Ellis Portfolio. In 1984, the company formed a cooperation with Levi Strauss. The Portfolio line was revised one year after, and in 1986 the company saw a rise of about $250 million in their product revenues.

The House of Perry Ellis was transferred to a new management headed by Robert L. McDonald, Ellis' close friend, in 1986 after Perry's unexpected death. Marc Jacobs then took the role of Perry Ellis as a fashion designer for the company, who at that time was a fresh graduate. Jacobs started his own labels just in 1993, and it was him who became the head of the House of Louis Vuitton in Paris.

Perry Ellis International has undergone several other changes in the company management. Manhattan Industries was traded to a licensee of Perry Ellis, the Salant. It was from them where a Miami based textile company acquired the Ellis House in 1999. The corporation also acquired several other companies, including the Original Penguin and the Ping collection of the golf brand, both acquired early in the year 2003.

Today, the House of Perry Ellis is continually producing all the fashion products it is known for. Massive expansions are expected to occur with more and more consumers becoming interested to Perry Ellis' great collections.

What To Do If You Only Need One Shoe

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Kent Basson

Your feet carry you thousands of miles in your lifetime so it is critical that you take good care of them. You can inherit problems with your feet from your Aunt Sue but more often trouble with feet are caused by wear and tear or neglect. The shoes you wear make a big difference in the health of your feet. Wearing the wrong size of shoes can cause neuromas, corns, calluses, blisters, hammertoes, back and leg pain, bleeding or numbness.

If you have two feet that are the same size then it is easy to find a pair with a good fit and style. However, there are millions of people around the world that need a pair of shoes in different sizes and there are also many handicapped and injured people who need just one shoe. In the United States alone almost 10% of the population wears - or should wear - a different sized shoe on each foot.

Who are these people who need two different sized shoes to make a pair or who only need one shoe? People with feet that are two different sizes, those with clubfeet, polio survivors, the handicapped or injured, amputees, lymphedema sufferers, and diabetics.

So what is a person who has two different sized feet or who only has one foot do when it comes to buying shoes?

The old solution to this problem was expensive and inconvenient. Often people with feet of different sizes buy one pair each of the same shoe in two different sizes, leaving a closet full of unused mismatched shoes. People who only need to wear one shoe because of an injury or disability paid for two shoes when they only needed one. Some people spend hours visiting thrift and second hand stores looking for two identical shoes in two different sizes.

There are two non-profit organizations, the National Odd Shoe Exchange and the One Shoe Crew, that provide shoes for amputees and people with mismatched feet. These organizations can only help so many people because it is impossible for those organizations to find a matching pair of shoes in each of an individual's shoe sizes given the many brands, styles, and colors of shoes available.

The Internet has opened up a whole new world for people who have mismatched feet or who only need one shoe. General auction sites like ebay allow users to list one shoe out of a pair but given the lack of knowledge about finding odd shoe sizes or single shoes means that many of these auctions end without buyers. One website, MixMatchShoes.com, sells pairs of shoes that are two different sizes but the selection of shoes is limited.

The newest solution for people with mismatched feet are websites that allow users to sell single shoes or mismatched pairs of shoes and to search for other single shoes or mismatched pairs of shoes for sale in their sizes. Instead of buying two pairs of shoes, a user can buy a single shoe or a pair of mismatched shoes from another user of the site, and a pair of the same brand, style, and color in the size of the buyer's opposite foot from a retailer. After the shoes arrive from the retailer, the buyer can post the shoe(s) not in their size(s) for sale on the site. This type of website gives sellers and buyers a chance to find the perfect pair of shoes or one shoe in a style and size that fits their feet.

As more people discover and begin to use these sites, there should be pairs of shoes available to accommodate virtually all combinations of mismatched feet so that users will not have to resort to buying a pair of matching shoes from a retailer. Many users with unused mismatched and single shoes ask only that those who can wear the shoes pay shipping charges.

Auction, commercial and non-profit sites are adding inventory all the time to make it easier to help the handicapped and people with mismatched feet to purchase stylish, comfortable shoes. Thanks to the Internet purchasing one shoe or two different sized shoes in a pair will become a easier shopping experience.

Kent Basson is the founder of OddShoeFinder.com an online webite that helps people find mismatched or single shoes. The site was created after Kent's sister suffered a foot injury that resulted in her having to buy two different sized shoes. After searching the web, he discovered the problem is far more common resulting in millions of unused, mismatched pairs of shoes that can now be given away, sold or purchased at http://www.oddshoefinder.com

Apple Bottoms

by Roy Shephard

The Apple Bottoms clothing line was created by multi-platinum superstar Nelly with the belief that the natural curves of a woman should be celebrated. His entire mission with the Apple Bottoms is to liberate the natural curves and women of all shapes and sizes and set a trend about the beauty of a woman's body.

The belief behind the Apple Bottoms is that woman shouldn't have to attempt to fit into their clothes. They believe that the clothes should fit the natural silhouette of a woman. The style of the Apple Bottoms clothing line is to accentuate all of the curves of women. Nelly personally is involved in the designing of each of the products from his line to ensure each product is the way he believes it should be.

In 2003, Nelly decided he needed an Apple Bottoms dream team and he created it with pals Yomi Martin and Ian Kelly. This team kicked off a campaign to hold a nationwide model search to find what would be known as the "Apple Bottoms Girl." This event was televised on VH1 and became one of the most popular shows of 2003. The jeans became so popular that they sold out in as little as two weeks. Because of the attention the search for the Apple Bottoms girl caused the company immediately gained national media attention which resulted in major growth. This caused the company to expand their product line from fashion focused denim with signature apple pockets. These Apple jeans extended the boundaries of denim because they focused on women's curves and soon became a cutting edge collection.

Many celebrities favor the Apple Bottoms clothing line jeans like Oprah, Fergie, Vivica Fox, Ashanti, and more. Today Apple Bottoms is not only well known for their signature jean enhancing a woman's figure but for other products also. They have many other lines such as sunglasses, scrubs, optical, swimsuits, intimates, footwear, jewelry, handbags and other accessories, children's line, and sportswear.

Apple Bottoms is a successful clothing line designed by Nelly and he has done a fantastic job because he believes the clothes should fit the women not that the women should fit into the clothes.

Shopping online for Diamond Wedding Rings?

Shopping online for Diamond Wedding Rings? The New Varieties of Diamond Wedding Rings

There was a time – not very long ago – when diamond wedding rings were mainly for women, and all looked pretty much the same. Today, its common for men to wear diamond wedding rings as well, and traditional mens gold wedding rings are just the tip of the iceberg!

Tacori Rings

Tacori engagement rings are unique in terms not only of style, but of materials as well – and do not have gem stones mounted. Tacori rings are crafted without mounted stones so as to allow the buyer to choose the kind of gem s/he would prefer to have placed in the mounting, which is then cut to order.

Tacori style is definitely one-of-a-kind. If you can imagine music that blends the ornate, yet mathematical precision of J.S. Bach with the sophisticated urban modernity of George Gershwin, you have a pretty good idea of what Tacori engagement rings present to the eye. Edwardian and Art-Deco were contemporaneous architectural and artistic styles, yet the former was post-Victorian and ornately baroque, while Art-Deco was known for clean, minimalist lines influenced by the Machine Age. Tacori rings successfully blend these two very different styles into a unique kind of jewelry that one will find nowhere else.

Traditional Wedding Jewelry From Space Age Materials

Tacori jewelers also pioneered the use of modern alternatives to gold and silver in the creation of wedding jewelry. Gold and silver, while having great beauty and luster of their own, are relatively soft metals that require a fair amount of care.

Tacori engagement rings and other wedding jewelry are made from extra durable space age metals. The Tacori line includes mens titanium wedding rings, palladium wedding bands and tungsten carbide wedding rings. Tungsten carbide is used in the manufacture of rock-cutting equipment, while palladium is an extremely hard metal, having a melting point of nearly 3000 degrees Fahrenheit! Titanium is yet another highly durable, yet lightweight metal that is a popular material used in top-of-the-line racing and mountain bicycles.

The bottom line is that Tacori's palladium wedding bands or tungsten carbide wedding rings are virtually indestructible. Like their mens titanium wedding rings, these pieces resist scratching, require no polishing and will last for generations – making them ideal heirlooms!

Tradition

Of course, those who prefer the old ways can still find traditional mens gold wedding rings and diamond wedding rings as well. Such pieces are still carefully crafted by the finest jewelers who nonetheless use the latest tools and techniques in order to produce wedding jewelry of the highest quality. Whether it is simple wedding bands or traditional diamond wedding rings, gold still retains the same allure that it has for 5000 years.

Spiritual gifts of love

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Ken Wilson

Love is the one thing that everyone hopes to feel at least once in their lives. All other things, like wealth and good fortune fade away. The feeling of love cannot be described in actual words, and the only way you can express it is through metaphors.

I don't know about you, but I have been in love. To be honest with you, when I sit back and think about my life before it, there are not many things about which I can say mattered to me. The moments you can really say you are alive are the ones when you are in love.

Even so, when you are in love, you may be in a jam. Feelings are very important and expressing them can be harder than it seems. Also you may have a problem with your partner's feelings. If you break the news without any warning, some people get scared and you may lose your one chance for happiness. This is why you should try to make a statement by sending a few hints before the actual declaration.

The best way to make yourself understood to some extent is to offer some meaningful gifts. Try to search for some spiritual gifts that can send the right message, so your partner gets an idea and perhaps slowly will understand that the feelings are mutual.

These spiritual gifts should be chosen with great care and extensive information about the receiver. You wouldn't want to offer roses to someone that is allergic to them or any other unpleasant situation like that. You need to try to find out a thing or two about your partner's tastes if you do not know already. Try to understand what could send the right message on the proper occasion.

If you want my advice, flowers are a good choice. However, there may be some problems with this type of gift. Some flowers may stir up some unwanted memories, even though they are favored. You need to find a full-proof solution.

Even though there are a variety of solutions for spiritual gifts, there is one that cannot fail. On any occasion, may it be important or casual, there is always one thing that can do the trick: jewelry. If you pick the pieces carefully, you will make a very good impression and a powerful statement at the same time.

Always take into account all the important factors. Think about what type of relationship you had up until that point, consider what she likes, and most of all try to picture her reaction to certain gifts. If you think that offering a ring might scare her off, go for something else.

Other solutions for spiritual gifts come in pendants or ear-rings. But you need to choose the right design in order to make a good impression. In order to get an idea about what is suitable and what message you want to send, you need to find a website that can provide all that information.

Because of this you should consider visiting ka-gold-jewelry.com. Here you will find all kinds of jewelry with great significance that will suit your needs perfectly. Every symbol has a cultural background and other hidden meanings, so you will not buy a simple piece of jewelry. On top of that, all the things you need to know about it are there, so you can impress your partner with its significance.

Choose from the multitude of models and designs, significances and powers, religious or cultural background to offer your loved one the piece he or she always dreamed of. There is nothing like the proper spiritual gifts to make a good impression. http://www.ka-gold-jewelry.com/p-categories/spiritual-gift.php

Designer Jeans for Women

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Sasha LeMarcon

In the 1970s and 1980s, all women were aware of Jordache, Calvin Klein, and Gloria Vanderbilt. These designer jeans were the ones that popular women wore and others admired. In fact, you were not in the "in crowd" if you wore anything other than these brand name jeans.

However, now that a few decades have passed, you will see another group of designer jeans that are making their way to the forefront. These designers of women's jeans are well-known in the United States with their variety of fit and styles.

The origin of Hudson Jeans is in the Los Angeles area. Hudson Jeans popularity is partly due to their original, artsy vibe. The best materials are collected from Japan, Europe, and the United States, and all the final embellishments are put on by hand. The company's factory treats the jean material and, once the jeans are finished, no two pairs are alike. Each pair of jeans is distinctive since such care went into making them. The long legs create the illusion of leanness, and many customers consider this a perfect fit.

Hudson Jeans have customers coming back again and again because they fit so well; the customers are amazed. These jeans are the latest rage among the stars in Hollywood and also with fashion designers.

Another designer jean out of Los Angeles is True Religion Brand Jeans. Although they were founded just a few years ago, they are a contender in the fashion world. They specialize in detailed work with seams, embroidery designs, and vintage washes, making them stand out against the others. Different styles are available for men, women, and children. Shirts, skirts, corduroy pants, jackets, and hoodies are just some of the many different clothing items they make available.

After doing modeling and acting for years, a designer started Paige Premium Denim, which is also known as Paige Jeans. At one time, she was acclaimed to have the perfect figure for modeling jeans. Paige's Jeans give you a shapely behind, elongate your legs, and minimize hips and thighs. Paige Jeans are specially made to make your bottom half look good.

Paige Jeans are sold by retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman (New York City), Fred Segal (Los Angeles), E Street Denim (Chicago), and at various Neiman Marcus retail stores and are available for purchase in the United States as well as countries around the world. Many Hollywood celebrities also love to wear Paige Jeans.

We have progressed a long way from old designer jeans, but jeans are just as desirable today. You can achieve a special look of fashion and panache when you wear women's designer jeans. Designers give their all to make their designer jeans stand out from the crowd. If you wear a designer brand, you are sure to feel special.

Sasha LeMarcon is an independent fashion writer with a passion for anything designer. Writing for magazines across the country, she exudes charm while wearing Hudson jeans, Nicole Miller dresses, and carrying Tylie Malibu handbags. Tres chic! She personally shops at jserraino.com.

How To Build Strength For Hyperextended Knees Before You Dance In Pointed Shoes

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Dianne M. Buxton

In discussions about hyperextended knees, some students who have been dancing for years are just beginning to understand that their knees hyperextend, or over-straighten.

Explaining a neutral leg, in the first few classes, is as important as explaining a neutral spine, whatever words the teacher uses. (Unless there are no hyperextended legs in the class, this is necessary).

A neutral leg is: knee above the ankle bone, pelvis above the knees. A line drawn down through a photo of you standing, taken from the side, should reveal a postural plumb line, from the center of the skull, neck, spine (through your natural curves), pelvis, through the knees and ankles, or just in front of the ankles, depending where you rested your weight.

With hyperextended legs, the knees stretch back behind this line. While this curving out at the back of the knees is an admired line in a dancer's gesture leg, it causes many problems in a standing leg.

First you tackle the feeling of the legs being bent, when held in a straight position. However, in this straight position it is much easier to hold the turnout and have the pelvis in a neutral position where you can build strength in your center.

When the knees rest back in hyperextension, the thighs turn in, and often the pelvis tucks under. Now you have compromised the safety of your low back. (In this position you may develop bulky thighs and bulky hip muscles). From here you destabilize your balance. You can compensate for this distortion in many ways in soft shoes, to a degree.

When you get onto pointe shoes, all kinds of problems will show up, if they haven't already.

Easily a whole booklet could be written about this. To keep it simplified, focus on the straight, or neutral leg.

If you are a few years into training, it's extra work, it's reprogramming neural pathways. But most dancers do this all the time as they progress through their training and careers.

There is also a lot of talk about overdeveloping the quads or inside knee muscles, or some other deformity, because of holding the leg straight. Not so. If your pelvis is neutral, you can use your muscles properly. You don't need to grip or clench.

You want your thighs pulled up long. You want a feeling of pushing down through the center of your leg bones into the floor. And imagine a space between your hip bones and the top of your thighs. You will achieve a real lengthening by doing this, your deep lower abs will pull up and in nicely, and now your core muscles are supporting the length you want.

You will be able to hold your turnout and have a strong supporting leg. When you get into pointe shoes, you will have your body aligned well, over that tiny point on the floor.

Always remember in your ballet stretching, to relax and lengthen all your muscles. Use a soft rubber ball to knead the muscles, leaning on a wall, or use it with the floor. Deborah Vogel has a DVD on this. You can find it on thebodyseries site.

How About Antique Engagement Rings

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by John Terryy

There are as many good reasons to consider purchasing an antique engagement ring as there are reasons for deciding when to pop the question. While modern day jewelers struggle to offer customers something unique and contemporary, the bride-to-be may be more inclined to appreciate the style and inherent charm of an antique. Another perfectly acceptable reason for purchasing antique engagement rings is they often offer buyers a better quality diamond at a lower price than purchasing a new ring.

Before beginning your search for the perfect wedding ring, it is best to ask yourself a few questions.

Do you know about the four C's?

The four C's are the criteria professionals use to determine the value of a diamond.

"Clarity takes into account the number, character, and visibility of flaws within the stone. These are often referred to as inclusions. The fewer inclusions, the better the quality of the stone."

Carat is the size or weight of the diamond. The larger the stone, the higher the cost. An advantage to buying antique engagement rings is that in the 1930s and 1940s jewelers often compensated for a smaller sized diamond by setting it in an intricately designed white gold, square-shaped box. These made the stone appear larger.

"Color is a matter of taste. Modern-day standards put a higher value on a clear diamonds, as a rule. In the past, buyers wanted their diamonds to reflect a rainbow of colors, soft pinks, yellow, or green tints. While colored diamonds are still available today, they were considered more valuable in the past. It is also important to note that many of the modern colored diamonds are artificially altered to enhance the color."

Cut is also a matter of taste and another reason antique engagement rings may be the best answer. Over the years, the preference of cut has changed. Additionally, a laser now cuts most diamonds; whereas older stones were normally cut by hand, giving them a more customized, romantic look.

What is the difference between an antique ring and an estate ring?

Antique rings normally refer to rings that are over 50 years old. Rings less than 50 years old and purchased used are considered as estate rings.

What are the styles of different eras?

Victorian Era (1835-1900) - Victorian era antique engagement rings featured diamonds or pearls set in yellow or rose gold. The ring styles varied from simple elegance to intricate detail. Many settings featured rows of diamonds that were cut with an extra facet in the bottom of the stone. This was known as a mine cut.

Edwardian Era (1900-1920) - With the invention of the oxyacetylene torch, platinum became the preferred metal for the period. The wedding bands were often crafted with lacy and pierced shapes, milgraining, filigree detail, and scrollwork. Rose-cut diamonds and sapphires were the preferred stones.

Art Deco Era (1920-1930) - Art Deco antique engagement rings feature a streamlined geometric look. They also reflect Egyptian, Asian, and Native American cultures. These rings were often made of platinum featured colorful, contrasting gemstones as well as diamonds.

Where can antique engagement rings be purchased?

Antique engagement rings can be purchased in a number of places: antique stores, estate sales, pawn shops, auctions, and there select vendors online and larger cities who specialize in the purchase and resale of antique jewelry. No matter where you purchase your engagement rings, remember to get a full description of your purchase in writing and look to vendors who offer a written returns policy. You may also ask if the jewelry comes with a certified gemologists report, which provides optimal proof that the jewelry is as described.

Conclusion

When purchasing an engagement ring, it is important to consider all your options, including antique engagement rings.

The Designer Silk Tie Proliferation Of The World: Lesser, Cufflinks

Like no other fashion accessory, the silk tie has crossed continents and cultures and sustained countless fashion cycles to become the epitome of male self expression. It forms the backbone of the modern day silk route as more than 100,000,000 ties are sold in the USA per annum, alone. In fact it remains the single most popular Father's day gift. How many hang darkly in closets never to see the light of day. Choose wisely; avoid flashing trends, like novelties, they wear off.

Aside from being stylish decoration, it defines class, culture, school and regiment, wear as you like, you will be judged. All the colours are well archived and can be woven to order at silk weavers scattered remotely across the English country side, but you must prove your regimental identity, otherwise take a hike.

Class or no class you can own distinction, the end result is the same, self expression. In England it's worn tight lipped, in America, loudly.

And then there is the rag trade language describing all the component parts; the blade, gusset, under end, tipping, bar tack, inter-lining, fully lined, self loop, machine made or handmade.

There're enough words there to write a song for the listener to interpret, the lesser the tie, more of the make, it's about quality. If you're in anyway associated with the trade and industry, you must learn the lingo or you loose out to questions with no answers, and your customers won't like that.

It would be easy enough to waffle on about historic events of these little fashion accessories, because history has a habit of repeating itself. And since the introduction of the net, it is repeated on millions of pages and easily accessible. To do it again for the umpteenth dozen time is nonsensical, we'd rather flap about what's on the boil now. And it's hot.

If you like three minute eggs, then we'll make it quick. So many brands have said all that can be said, but there is only one that reins true, Vivienne Westwood. Her full range of accessories for men, each piece holds value in quality and the artistic prowess of a gifted designer.

Naturally we sing Vivienne's praise, after all we are one of the few online shops authorised to sell her collections.

For those more conservative, but less inclined to sift through racks upon racks of generic assortments, then have a look at silk ties by Patrick McMurray for a change. There are not many, which make choosing easier.

Now to conclude in complete contradiction of what we said about history: Here is an anecdote about another very popular accessory; the cufflink. ---- Keep in mind the cufflinks themselves pre-dates the shirt.

In fact, according to the National Cufflink Society, there is evidence of cuff fasteners in ancient hieroglyphics and even in King Tut's crypt. The introduction of the French cuff in the mid 1600's moved the cufflink from the realm of practicality to personal adornment, as royalty commonly wore these decorated cuff fasteners.

In the late 1700's, new link styles appeared and were soon adopted by the middle class and tradesmen. By the 1840's cufflinks were usually found in the form of gold, silver, or pearl buttons held together by metal, often brass chain.

At Patrick McMurray, we know the makings of the goods we feature; each piece is history in the making.

We are furthering the silk tie proliferation, by featuring, uniquely, Vivienne Westwood, Timothy Everest, Simon Carter, Victoria Richards, Ian Flaherty, Shane McCoubrey, Michelsons, Cressida Bell, Veritas, London Badge and Button, Patrick McMurray and Louis Feraud.

Purveyor of finely crafted Designer Silk Ties and handmade silver cufflinks by, Ian Flaherty, Simon Carter, Vivienne Westwood, Lbb London, Veritas, Timothy Everest, Michelsons and Victoria Richards, Louis Feraud, Shane McCoubrey and Cressida Bell, plus a selection of Vivienne Westwood silk ties

Cutting the cost of shoes

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Keith Barrett

We all try and get the lowest prices when buying products and services, whether purchasing on the high street or online. Discount codes and vouchers are a great way for you to save money when buying shoes from online stores.

The range of stores offering footwear is such that you can often get lower prices online than you would find if you visited a traditional bricks and mortar store. Part of the reason for this is presumably because online retailers have lower overheads.

It's also the case that shopping online gives you access to a massive number of stores. This isn't usually the case in your local area, where there might only be a limited number of physical stores.

The greater number of shopping opportunities available means that you have a better chance of finding the exact footwear that you require. It also means that there's more chance of getting a good deal, particularly if you make use of price comparison sites.

You can use a price comparison site to check out the stores selling the shoes that you are interested in at the lowest price. This is a quick and easy way to save some money.

A further step that you can take is to look to see if the online store offers a discount code. How exactly does this work?

What you would generally do would be to select the store that you are intending on shopping from. Taking the example of a UK footwear retailer, let's assume that the store in question is Clifford James.

You would visit a discount codes website, such as Offer UK, and then finding any appropriate Clifford James discounts.

Once you pick out the shoes that you are interested in purchasing, you would simply enter the code at the Clifford James online checkout to take advantage of the lower price.

This method allows you to pay a lower price than is generally advertised online, thus helping you to make savings.

Make use of Clifford James discounts to save you money, as discussed by Keith Barrett. This article may be used by any website publisher, though this resource box must always be included in full.

Shorts and Shoes

by Sandy Dumont

A while ago a 24-year-old woman was evicted from a large mall in Newport News, Virginia because other mall shoppers complained that the shorts she was wearing were too short. More recently a woman was removed from an Airplane for a similar incident. Local residents were surprised, because even though the Mall has a dress code, no one had ever been evicted. Just how scanty the woman's shorts were may never be known, but the guard who asked her to leave reported that a small area of the woman's derriere was visible. Obviously, they were not Bermuda shorts; they were probably closer to "Daisy Dukes." Fine for a Hollywood movie, but not so appropriate for your average Mall.

Inappropriate or provocative dressing has become a serious problem throughout the country, and Hollywood deserves a portion of the blame. Young film stars dress provocatively because they benefit from it. They get photographed and receive publicity. Unfortunately, young women outside the Hollywood milieu copy their dress mode, but instead of benefiting, they lose. In the working environment, they lose credibility, they lose respect.

It might be worth re-considering the attire you wear out in public, if you care about your reputation. Paris Hilton, the Queen of provocative "cheesecake" attire, has been shunned by her "old money" socialite friends. They find her behavior and her dress unacceptable.

Interestingly enough, the young woman evicted from the Virginia mall didn't believe the way she was dressed was inappropriate. Other shoppers did, and they were offended by her manner of dress. So offended that they asked that action be taken. It reminds me of an incident that occurred at a very large oceanfront grocery store about three years ago. As I entered the premises, I encountered a plumpish woman in her 50s traipsing around the store in a scanty bikini. I confess to being shocked and came close to asking the store manager to ask her to drape a towel around herself. I didn't, but now I wish I had. Inappropriate behavior as well as inappropriate dress is simply unacceptable in public.

Last week I was interviewed by a prominent newspaper whose fashion editor wanted to know my position about men going shirtless in malls and other public places. It seems that this is a phenomenon that has cropped up recently in some large East Coast cities. While it's not quite the same as a woman going topless in public, it is still not appropriate dress for the mall or a restaurant. If you want to brand yourself as a classy person, save the bare chest for the boardwalk not the mall.

In July I spoke at a prestigious conference in Orlando, and one of the participants asked the question I always get. It's asked nearly every time I'm interviewed. "Do you have to wear stockings in hot climates – and can you wear open-toed shoes to the office in hot weather?" The answer: if you cannot tell whether or not you have stocking on, you may go without them. In other words, if we are not distracted by bulging veins at the instep, broken blood vessels, calloused heels, dirty or ugly toes or toenails, or by discolored or too-pale skin, then you may not need to wear stockings. Stockings are the equivalent of makeup for the legs. They cover up or disguise a multitude of things that might otherwise prove distracting. .

When it comes to open-toed shoes, we are still in transition. In New York City and Hollywood, it's a go, but most of my corporate clients tell me they do not want strappy shoes and toes. They are considered by many to be for resort wear only, not for office wear. So, the answer at this moment in time is that each individual firm sets its requirements and standards. Even in South Florida, most financial institutions in a competitive market will not permit open-toed shoes. They know that every single element of image conveys a message and is powerful. And they leave nothing to chance.

Innovative Watch Designs

Nixon watch company has created a brand that I think stands out from the pack. Nixon watches are edgy, new and retro at the same time. I would say they are one of my favorite watch companies. Their watch designs are inspiring.

Their method for inspiration is unique and interesting. Nixon uses action sport stars to help them come up with new designs. For example they will focus on a surf pro taking what he needs in a watch and combining some that with great designs they create beautiful watches.

Not only do they use action sport stars they come up with themes. By designing around these themes they come up with new innovative watch designs. One watch that caught my eye was what they call "The Dork". Do you remember the dorky kid in school with the Timex calculator watch, tucked in polo shirt and high-water pants? Nixon took that concept and made it cool. "The Dork" has a long rectangular case with a metal finish on the top. The bottom of the case is matte black and they used holes to simulate the calculator. "The Dork" comes with a brown or black leather band. I love "The Dork".

Another one of my favorite Nixon watches is "The Murf". It has a great retro feel to it, but Nixon has done an amazing job of updating the look and making it appropriate for our time. It has a square case. The top of the watch has a perfectly placed wood inlay. The lower portion of the watch uses a great looking retro dial to keep time. "The Murf" comes with a metal band.

If you are looking for a watch that not everybody else has and a watch that allows you to express who you are I highly recommend taking a look at Nixon watches. I love what they are doing with their watches. I think the unique approach to watch design is what is separating them from the pack.

Moschino - Highly Fashionable Clothes

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by John Debois

What do Uma Thurman, Natalie Imbruglia, Kylie Minogue and Nicole Kidman have in common? All of these beautiful ladies are fond of wearing signature clothing designs from the fashion house Moschino. Founded by the Italian fashion designer Franco Moschino in 1983, the company was an expanded fashion and accessories center that has several brands of clothes, accessories and fragrances.

Clothing designed and distributed by Moschino has distinct characteristics of being unique, sexy, classical and whimsical all at the same time. Fashion experts note that Moschino garments are always dashing with practical humor, though there is much sense and aesthetic appeal to them.

For instance, the Milan-based fashion house was responsible for the clothing worn by performers in the Winter Olympics of 2006 in Torino, Italy. In the said occasion, performers were clad in outfits that were inspired and designed after the mountains of Turin.

In 2005, one of Kylie Minogue's most talked about concert tour called 'Showgirl' was supported and dressed by Moschino. The greatest hits tour of Kylie Minogue was turned into an impressive show of distinct, yet unique and highly fashionable clothes designed exclusively by Moschino.

Knowing the man behind Moschino would help further understand the drive behind the company. Franco Moschino (deceased) was born in 1950 in Milan, Italy. He started his fashion career as a neophyte fashion sketcher for the popular clothing firm Giorgio Armani. Known for his disrespect for conventional fashion, Mr. Moschino strived to come out with designs that defy the normal, and as so, was able to establish a niche in the fashion world of his own.

In 1987, Moschino launched its own fragrance line for women. The following year, the company introduced its diffusion line; it initially called Cheap & Chic. Since then, Moschino perfumes became to the fragrance sector what the brand is to the clothing industry. Moschino perfumes simply stood out to be unique and distinct from the rest of the perfumes on the market. Its simplicity and uniqueness was defiant of the usual. Indeed, that was a Moschino trademark.

Proof of its uniqueness was a running joke when malaria spread like epidemic in Italy in the 1990s and early 2000s. The joke said that spraying Moschino perfumes was a sure way of repelling the deadly and nasty mosquitoes that spread the disease. The expensive perfume did not react to the joke, but it was said that such humor helped Moschino perfumes further find and mark its own perfume niche.

To date, Moschino perfumes are one of the most expensive and most sought-after. The fragrances are being distributed globally. Though there are just a limited number of retailers and shops selling the perfumes, consumers could easily order a bottle or bottles of their favorite Moschino fragrances through online shopping stores.

If you are defiant of the usual and you aim to establish your own image using scents, it is time you get a bottle of your own Moschino perfume. The tag prices are normally expensive, but for sure, you will acknowledge that it really pays to stand out and be different.

Plus Size Women: Shoes Bring Out Your Style

To set off a dress, there's nothing like a great pair of shoes. Take Cinderella's story, for example: without the right footwear, she never would have gotten her prince! When you've selected your evening gown, be sure to spend time finding the right pair of shoes to coordinate with it. If your gown has sparkles, find some diamond-embellished heels, or consider dying some slippers to match the color of your dress.

The shoes you wear say a lot about who you are. Shoes chosen for social occasions should usually be some shade of the main color in your dress. The shade chosen can be darker than the color of the dress but should never be lighter. This general rule can, of course, sometimes be broken.

What will always looks good and tends to add some spice and glitter to your look are metallic gold, silver or bronze leather shoes. These are particularly attractive with sexier gowns that have a side or back slit. Going a bit further, you can assuage your creative side by donning shoes that have some beads or some glitter. However, you need to be careful here and not over do it. A little is often enough.

Great news for plus size ladies - there are plenty of styles of shoes for you! First of all, heels are worn for dancing and social events - the glam factor events. If you can't tolerate a heel, find a shoe that has at least an inch or more. Plus size petite ladies should look at height as beneficial to them since their date might be taller.

It's possible to look as feminine, stylish, and elegant in your evening gown and shoes. For those summer months, wear attractive sandals and sling backs or open-toed pumps that complement your beautiful dress. Keep in mind, shoes pull your look together but don't detract away from the dress.

You should have beautiful looking feet if you decide to wear sandals without stockings or pantyhose. If you can't get a manicure by a professional at a salon, just give yourself one at home! To do this, first soak your feet in warm water and smooth out any rough areas with a pumice stone or loofah. Then trim and file your toenails so that they are straight and without any rough edges. Your polish should be suitable to the season and event, but doesn't necessarily have to match your fingernails. It's ok if you still don't feel confident about your feet and want to wear closed-toe shoes. Remember, the goal is to feel self-assured, sexy, and gorgeous - like the amazing woman you are!

Put your Best Foot Forward. Hints on Choosing the Right "Job Interview Shoes"

Subscribe in a Reader

DON'T FORGET TO COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

by Sharon Francis

Apart from being on punctual, being immaculatly dressed for an interview, and that includes your shoes, is of tantamount importance, irrespective of the type of post one is being interviewed for…so don't forget about your shoes as they may be the most visible item of your interview attire! It is vital one comes across as tidy and well groomed. This indicates to the interviewer that you are serious about the job in hand and you will have the self confidence to follow through.

Here are a few hints as to what shoes are deemed appropriate for an interview... and the shoes should definitely be left at home in the cupboard.

There is far more choice in shoe style for women than for men on the market, however that choice is narrowed down significantly when it comes to choosing that right shoe for an interview. Ladies and Gentlemen, when choosing a shoe, make sure the following tips are considered:

- For Women-

- The heel is not too high as tottering into a room on too high heels will definitely not give the right impression to your potential future employer. Choose a low or mid height heel and above all comfortable shoe or a traditional black classic leather ballet style pump, which may be more suitable for a person who is taller. Interviews often take place over a whole day so donning a shoe that is not comfortable will take your mind off the task at hand.
- A solid colour is chosen, ideally black, navy or brown, and the colour of the shoe should match any accessories that are worn.
- Choose leather court shoes, preferably with a closed toe, with a traditional classic look. Black leather sling back style shoes may add a bit more variety and class to the outfit but make sure they are not too overzealous. Do however choose a shoe that is current with the fashion trends where possible.

A Few Suggestions:

Lupin by Hush Puppies
Route 66
Root Toot Lace Up
Pure Bow T-bar from Schuh
Aver by Rockport

-For Men-

- Black is the best colour for shoes being worn to an interview...and they must be leather. If shoes aren't black then make sure that they match the belt.
- Go for quality, even if one needs to spend more. There are certain black leather classic shoes that will not go out of fashion, and if they are good quality the user should get years of use from them.

A Few Suggestions:

Men's Berlin-Brandenburg Rust by ECCO
South Ferry Men's Shoes by Rockport
Rockport Migrate by Rockport
Collins Men's Shoe by Frank Wright
Original Trilby Four Eye Side Lace Formal Shoe by Ikon

-For Both-

-If a pair of brand new shoes is out of your budget then use a pair that you already have but take care that they are in top condition, clean and polished with no scuffs….

Never wear sandals with a suit, shoes that have a chunky look, toe, sole or heel, rubber soles, plastic shoes, casual shoes, loafers, anything metallic or sparkly, canvas, tie shoes, floral or brightly coloured shoes, heels that are too high.

Of course the job that one is being interviewed will have a small effect on which type or style of shoe should be chosen butif one adheres to the guides above then one should be well on the way to putting ones beast foot forward!

If you are getting married soon, do not rush the choice of wedding rings; the rings will be on for a long time so great care needs to be taken in their choice. Do not rush this as they are more than a symbol of love; find rings that symbolize your commitment to each other in the years to come. For something this important a couple should find a specialist jeweler for their wedding rings; quality rings may take some finding but they will be worth the effort although the shopping mall may not be the ideal place.

The type of ring available in these stores is usually quite limited; they may also have a restricted price range, another reason to seek out a jeweler who only sells this type of ring. When choosing, you will want a ring for the bride that will complement the engagement ring she is already wearing.

Some wedding rings are far to elaborate to be worn with an engagement ring; try to find a jeweler that stocks both types of ring, especially those that are designed to go together. To achieve this, the easiest method is to place both the wedding band and engagement ring side by side and if it is not possible to try the ring on.

Fashions in rings come and go but the traditional metals including: (1) Yellow Gold, (2) Silver, (3) Titanium and (4) White Gold; although, increasing numbers of couples are choosing the longer lasting platinum. Choosing a ring that is made of durable material is especially important for the groom's ring and platinum is an ideal choice. Traditionally, men are more likely to cause damage to a ring; they are the ones who will have the most marks and damage if examined.

Having finger size checked is essential if the wedding rings are to fit; it would be embarrassing if one or both rings did not fit properly. It is just as important to ensure the rings are not so loose that there is a chance they will be lost.

The jeweler should be given plenty of time to complete this task because there may be others he is adjusting rings for; make certain that you give plenty of time before your wedding day for both choosing and for adjustments to be made. Choosing wedding bands you will both like and that match the engagement ring may take some time; allow for this as it is not uncommon for couples to choose in haste and then regret their decision later.

However, the most important aspect to remember when choosing a wedding ring is that its purpose is to show the love that two people have for one another; perhaps now, the reason for the time spent choosing a ring has been made clearer.

Turnbull and Asser is known worldwide for its tasteful designs manufactured from high quality materials to exceptional standard. Established in London in 1885, the company has been shirtmaker to successive Princes of Wales including Prince Charles and each shirt bears testament to this with a label proclaiming "By Appointment to HRH The Prince of Wales".

In fact Prince Charles received the right to grant Royal Warrants in his own name upon marriage to Princess Diana and Turnbull and Asser was the first to be awarded. The company is best known for its shirts, which are available both bespoke and readymade. However, Turnbull and Asser offers a complete range of menswear products. The shirts and ties are all made in its own factories in England, but other products are mainly sourced from UK companies.

Other than Princes of Wales, Turnbull and Asser has supplied shirts and other garments to such distinguished people as Sir Winston Churchill, David Niven, Ian Fleming and his creation James Bond. In fact, when Sean Connery was outfitted for his fiorst 007 adventure Dr No, the shirtmaker devised a special cuff for the shirt consisting of a turnback that was fastened with buttons rather than cufflinks as is normal. This association with James Bond has continued to the most recent incarnation, with Daniel Craig sporting a Turnbull and Asser dress shirt while playing high stakes poker in Casino Royale.

While retaining its Jermyn Street flagship store, where it has been since 1903, the shirtmaker is also located in Harrod's, on 57th Street in New York, as well as Beverly Hills.
